For those of you who haven't been to Boston's official website lately, you may want to take a look at it, as it's been completely redesigned.

The site was designed by Boston member Gary Pihl, who also designed Kimberley Dahme's website. The site features a Flash interface, has bios for past and present members of the band, news and more.

There's also news on the site of an upcoming Boston show on November 13, 2006 in Boston at the Symphony Hall, where Boston will be part of a benefit show where proceeds go to support the Doug Flutie, JR. Foundation for Autism, Inc. The show starts at 8pm and ticket information can be found at bandboston.com.

If you haven't been to Barry Goudreau's official site lately, you should check it out. David Stefanelli, former RTZ drummer and Barry's webmaster, has launched a new version of barrygoudreau.com, which includes a bio that Barry wrote, which is worth checking out.

While the debut CD from Cosmo has yet to be released, one of the songs from that disc will be appearing on a compilation CD. According to melodicrock.com, Frontiers Records will be releasing a 2-CD set called "Rock the Bones Volume 4", which is due to be released October 20.

The Cosmo song that will be appearing on the compilation is called Don't Tell Me Your Lies, which will be on disc 2. That song will be released on the upcoming debut disc from Cosmo, tentatively titled "Alien"; no release date info available yet for that disc.

The tollowing was posted by George of Boston_rocks on his group as well as the list on boston.org, which has former Boston bassist David Sikes answering some questions:

Hello folks,
George forwarded me a letter from a fan with questions for me. Here are some answers.

Question/Why give up music?
I haven't given up music, I have given it up as a profession. I have been a musician all my adult life, there were a lot of ups and downs. I have never liked the business of music and there is no way to escape it if you rely on it for your living. The single biggest reason for me though, were my two son's who were growing up and I was missing large chunks of their childhood. Also, playing with Boston was becoming more and more unreliable as far as working was concerned. I could have played with other bands when Boston wasn't working, which was most of the time. However, my children deserved to have a dad that was around and could provide a consistent standard of living for them.

Question/Has he considered auctioning off any of his basses?
I love all of my basses, there are great memories associated with them. I couldn't part with any of them.

Question/Would he autograph Boston CD's?
Yes I would, as long as you make it easy for me. Postage paid returned envelope, etc, forwarded to
Allstate Insrance 1310
Tennessee St. Vallejo, CA. 94590

Question/Is it realistic for a person to assume one could have retired from a having spent a few years playing with Boston?
That would be a NO. I played with Boston for 10 years. Of those 10 years the band did 3 full scale tours and one 2 or 3 week tour of Canada. During this time we released 1 new studio album and a greatest hits with a couple of new songs on it. Not real prolific in my book. At times I made quite a bit of cash playing in the band, but considering the years that I made little or nothing, I could never have put away enough to retire. To be honest, I make a better living year in and year out owning an insurance agency. I have made more money in 3 years of insurance than I made in 10 with Boston. Having said that, I loved my time in the band, it was never about how much money I made, although I'm sure I could have made a much better living if we had just gone on tour every year or so and put out another CD or tour. But, it is what it is, I knew how Tom worked when I joined the band, I was surprised though, at the extremely slow pace at times.

Question/How long did it take him to master playing all the Boston songs when he was first hired?
First off, I studied the songs on my own and probably had the bass parts down in 2 weeks or so. One of the things I had to do was buy a 5 string bass because so many of the songs on Third Stage had the E string tuned lower than a standard pitch. Playing a bass with 5 strings was a bit of an adjustment. What was more difficult was playing the bass and singing, there was alot going on in some of those parts. I can't tell you how long that took because it was a gradual process of working with Brad and Doug on my own and rehearsing with the band. My memory is that we rehearsed for a full 2 months before the Third Stage tour, at the point that we played our first show I felt I really had it all down.

That's it! Sorry if I get a little wordy at times.
David

If you're going to be in or around Hyannis, MA (the same city named in the song Rock and Roll Band) on August 2, 2006, you should stop by the Cape Cod Melody Tent for The Reel Blues Fest.

There will be a performance by Ernie and the Automatics, which will feature former Boston members Barry Goudreau along with form Boston drummer Sib Hashian and Tim Archibald, who was the bass player in RTZ. The show starts at 7pm.

More info on this event can be found at www.thereelbluesfest.com

For those of you who play guitar, August's issue of Guitar World will feature guitar and bass tablature for Boston's More Than a Feeling. For more info on Guitar World, you can check out the Guitar World website.

Okay, most of you couldn't care less, but I just couldn't resist...

Recently bandboston.com (Boston's official website) posted the recent broadcast of Off the Record with Joe Benson. Guess where they got the show? That's right, thirdstage.ca! (If you haven't seen it yet, check out the audio section for that and more interviews and other audio clips).

They even posted the credit right there on the main page along with the link to hear the file (which they hosted on their server for their site). You can see a screenshot of this by clicking on the image below, which is a crop of the credit!

BTW: I highlighted the credit on the image below just to let it stand out!

It's been established for many years that Tom and Barry weren't speaking to one another and it's been discussed many many times in the Boston communities that they should bury the hatchet. Well, it looks like after all these years that may finally happen.

According to Jon at Gonna Hitch a Ride, Boston Magazine has published an article about Tom Scholz and at the end of the article it mentions Tom and Barry reconnecting after 20 years. This information has also been confirmed with one of the forum members who received an email from Barry confirming that he and Tom were back in touch.

Boston vocalist Brad Delp recently posted this to the list at boston.org:

Many thanks for all of the birthday greetings! There were so many that I am just now getting around to thanking everyone (if not individually, at least thru this e-mail).

Again, thanks to you all. You have been so supportive thru the years that I no longer fear the question, "Will you still need me, will you still feed me...?",

Let's all send our thoughts and good wishes to Sir Paul, who turns 64 on June 18. He deserves a better birthday/Father's Day than what he'll be receiving this year.

If you're like me; a Canadian Boston fan who went from store to store looking for a copy of the new remasters, then you probably had no luck finding them. Well it looks like the Canadian release of Boston and Don't Look Back remasters won't be available in Canada until probably the end of July. Amazon.ca is showing the release dates to be July 27, 2006 for those.

Boston remaster at amazon.ca
Don't Look Back remaster at amazon.ca

So if you're like me, you're probably going to want to head to amazon.com, or another US based retailer to get them imported to Canada. Check out the Merchandise section for links to buy these.
